Cachoeira da Feiticeira means “Witch Waterfall” in English, so let yourself be inspired by this enchanted place. Another big plus for this hike is that the waterfall is located nearby a beautiful small beach called Praia da Feiticeira.

Facing the pier, turn left and follow the small road all the way to the end until you reach Parque Estadual da Ilha Grande.
Just as the Circuito do Abraão hike, the Cachoeira de Feiticeira hike also starts inside of this idyllic park. At the entrance of the park there are signs pointing the way, so it’s easy to see where to start.

When you get to the starting point of the hike, you can choose to turn left or right, both paths will join after a while. If you turn right, you will be walking by the historic Lazareto/ Prison ruins, that used to be an isolation hospital and jail for political prisoners. If you turn left, the trail will lead you to a small natural pool. Whatever you decide, after 10 -20 minutes of walking you will see the ruins of the aqueduct coming up in front of you. And that’s the main starting point of this hike – it’s also indicated by a sign saying Cachoeira da Feiticeira. From here the track starts going up and down, mostly up.
The track is well used by people so it’s always easy to see where to go. After about 40 – 60 minutes of hiking inside of the rainforest, listening to birds and passing by giant bamboo and other interesting plants, you will get to a sign indicating that Cachoeira da Feiticeira and Praia da Feiticeira are only 20 minutes away.
From here, the track starts going up again and after 5-10 minutes of walking in the rainforest, the landscape opens up and you’ll have a beautiful view in front of you.
Then the trail starts going down again and will continue doing so until you reach the beautiful Cachoeira da Feiticeira.
After 5-10 minutes of walking the track splits in two directions. The first leads you to Cachoeira da Feiticeira and the second to Praia da Feiticeira – there are signs indicating the directions.
Follow the sign towards the Cachoeira da Feiticeira (to the left) and after 10-15 minutes more of walking before you reach the opening where the 15 meter high waterfall is located. You find a small natural pool here that is perfect for a refreshing bath and an energizing shower in the natural enclosure – well deserved after some hours of hiking! Try to spend some time here, enjoy the scenic area and the refreshing, clean water of the falls. Cachoeira da Feiticeira is supposed to be the most beautiful waterfall on the island.
On your way back it’s nice to take the extra walk down to the beach Praia da Feiticeira. Normally you have some people selling snacks and beverages here and sometimes you have some small taxi boats passing by that can offer you a ride back to Vila do Abraão.
